Why Baby Steps Still Move Us Forward

We live in a culture of big results and instant success. Yet some of the most meaningful progress happens in small, deliberate steps. I’ve learned this through every stage of my life, from academics to parenting, to professional growth and community work.

Baby steps are powerful because they allow consistency without overwhelm. They allow reflection and adjustment along the way. When I founded the Power of Early Vision (PEV) Foundation, I started with small initiatives: mentoring one child, hosting a single event, or sharing knowledge with a few youth. Each step might have seemed minor at the time, but cumulatively, they created an impact that continues to ripple outward.

The same applies personally. Balancing PhD studies, raising children, writing books, and contributing to climate policy was never a leap all at once. It was a series of small, intentional actions, guided by focus, faith, and persistence.

Progress is not always dramatic. It doesn’t always show up immediately. But every baby step moves us closer to our goals, strengthens our resilience, and builds the foundation for lasting impact. Don’t underestimate the power of incremental growth; it shapes lives more than you realize.
